Send tokens to the wrong network

If you send tokens from an exchange to your Halo Wallet and choose the wrong network, or accidentally send tokens from one network to a wrong network through bridge, here are some measures you or your friend can take.

EVM-compatible tokens and networks

One cool thing about EVM compatible networks is that your secret phrase can be used on these networks with the same address. Polygon, BNB Chain, and KCC are all EVM compatible. Still, not all EVM networks are supported by Halo Wallet. Make different steps under different circumstances.

Send tokens to a wrong EVM network supported by Halo Wallet

Here’s the case. If you intent to withdraw some tokens on Ethereum from exchange to your Halo Wallet, but actually send them on Polygon, don’t worry then. Both networks are supported by Halo Wallet. The assets are in your Halo Wallet and can be seen through adding custom tokens. You can bridge the tokens back to Ethereum and continue to use them. In this case, the tokens aren’t lost.

Send tokens to a wrong EVM network not supported by Halo Wallet

Another scenario is that you want to withdraw some tokens on Ethereum from exchange to your Halo Wallet, but accidentally send them on TRON, which is a network not supported by Halo Wallet currently.

You won’t see the tokens in your Halo Wallet. What you can do is to import the secret phrase to another wallet that supports TRON network. Then you can bridge the tokens to Ethereum and the tokens also aren’t lost.

However, beware of the risks in the process. Keep your secret phrase safe! Never share it with anyone else.

Non-EVM tokens and networks

If you withdraw some tokens on Ethereum from exchange to your Halo Wallet, but accidentally send them to an address created on Klaytn, which is not EVM compatible, it’s probable that your tokens are gone forever.

The secret phrase you have for Klaytn will not work on Ethereum, or it won’t create the same address on Ethereum as it did on Clayton. Most likely, you’ve sent tokens to an address that will never be claimed by anyone. There’s little chance for you to retrieve your tokens.
